For many people, the harassing phone calls were first indication. One day at lunch, they receive a phone call from their family bank that they have invested with for a decade. Those single calls soon become multiple calls a day from different numbers asking about a loan they fell behind on. Suddenly, the family bank is not as family-friendly, as once again, the evening meal is interrupted by another collection call.

Sometimes, I am contacted by a person after a court appearance they attended. It could be a relief to be advised by court personnel that “You'll get to speak with the lawyer” and “The mediator will tell you about the strengths and weaknesses of the case.” However, they soon learned the truth of those statements.  While the mediator wanted to assist in reaching an agreement, the only solution the creditor's lawyer wanted was payment of the full debt over time. Unsure of what they should do, they found that the debt relief they truly hoped for was years away, because it is tied into a long-term arrangement, with the looming specter of a judgment if a single payment was missed.

I wish I could tell you that these scenarios were the exceptions.  Unfortunately, these scenarios are stories I have heard with increasing frequency throughout Tampa Bay and across the state, including Brandon, Orlando, Bradenton, Sarasota, Fort Myers, and many other cities.  With some state and federal Covid-19 relief programs nearing their end, many people are finding themselves facing a debt-related lawsuit for the first time. Debt-related lawsuits can be a stressful reminder of the past as well as the uncertainty of the future.  Individuals are attempting to navigate unfamiliar legal terrain when the odds feel seemingly stacked against them. For these Floridians, hiring an attorney to partner with them, provide legal advice, and peace of mind may be the first step in obtaining the financial freedom they seek.

If you are faced with a debt-related lawsuit, the attorneys of Holland Law Group are here to stand between you and the creditors, to shield your family, and defend your legal rights against debt buyers, vehicle deficiencies, and other creditor harassment. Instead of shouldering the weight of your case on your own, it is our job to lift the weight of a response from your shoulders and to step into the ring to save you money and provide peace of mind as you continue towards debt relief. When you retain Holland Law Group to represent you on a case, communication on your case must be redirected to our office as your attorneys. When the collector calls us, we will be there to negotiate for you. As your counselors, we will be there to hear your unique story, review your circumstances, and fully advise you on your legal rights.

In these unprecedented times, you do not have to fight a debt-related lawsuit on your own. Reach out to Your Partner in Law – Holland Law Group.
